There is no doubt that it has been a blow to the ego to realize that word of mouth is no longer as powerful as social media. The old question "Where did you get that?" has now been replaced by #artnoveautattoo. While this shift was likely rocket-launched into existence by the lockdown of 2020, the fact remains that for the first time in my career, I must become a marketing/social media manager to avoid going nearly invisible. UGHHHH….

With my rant out of the way, I can now focus on the truth that a truly excellent tattoo experience comes from connections as well. One of my favorite parts of this career is the sweet conversations and interpersonal moments shared during a session. And that is simply a feature you can't search for on Instagram or TikTok. It's no surprise, then, that the more I delve into the marketing world (visualize spelunking in a dark cave), the more I understand how much I long for the magic of personal interaction. Thus, I've arrived at this point.

So, in this monthly blog-esk experiment, I'm attempting to nurture an authentic connection with my clientele in a way that feels easy and unobstructed. I refuse to litter already brimming emails with yet another THING to read. But let's dive a bit deeper. In this digital age, where screens often replace faces and emojis substitute for emotions, I find myself yearning for the tangible – the real conversations, the laughter, and even the occasional tear that comes with the intimate process of creating a tattoo. It's these human moments that infuse soul into my art. They remind me that behind every tattoo, there's a story, a person, a memory worth cherishing.

This blog, then, is more than just a space for updates; it's a digital diary, a collection of my thoughts, experiences, and the wisdom I've gathered along my journey. It's where I'll share the stories behind some of my favorite works, the inspiration drawn from nature, art, and architecture, and the lessons learned from the people I've met along the way.
